Disputatio juridica
Scottish 'wheel' binding. Scottish (Edinburgh), c. 1771. Red goatskin, decorated with gilt tooling in a classic 'wheel' design, one of the standard Scottish binding styles. Derived from European 'fan' bindings of the 17th century, it was notable for its innovative design and high-quality tooling.
