Orationes
Multi-coloured interlacing. French (Paris), mid 16th century. Brown calfskin. Each volume is bound and gauffered in a different pattern of interlacing with open, floral tools; interlacing ribbon enamelled in green, light blue, and dark blue. From the workshop of the Parisian binder known for his bindings for the English collector, diplomat, scholar, and poet Thomas Wotton (1521–87).
