Peacock louse
Differential interference contrast (DIC) micrograph of a small chewing louse, possibly Ambylocera species, found on a peacock. These lice are external parasites that infest birds and mammals. This sample is from a vintage prepared slide from the period 1870 - 1905. Composite of 50 images. Horizontal width of image is approximately 0.8 mm.
