Genes determining polarity in Drosophila oocyte
The genes bicoid and oskar are involved in determining the polarity of the Drosophila oocyte and developing embryo. In this image fluorescent in situ hybridisations to bicoid (pink) and oskar (blue) mRNAs show that they are localised at the anterior and posterior of the Drosophila oocyte respectively.
