There is an evenly spaced line of poles, wire and debris. This is a massive and confused obstacle, which would probably have been remarkably difficult to negotiate. The land either side of the strip is entirely flat and empty as far as the horizon. It appears to be a very peaceful and tranquil scene, taken most probably by John Warwick Brooke.
