Destruction at Bapaume, France, during World War I. A curving street has been flattened except for three houses on the curve. They remain pretty much intact- a juxtaposition to the rubble littering the street. The air is still full of very fine particles which make the scene very atmospheric. A lot of French architecture and land was devastated by prolonged warfare as scenes like this typify. …
