Camel and cameleer
This terracotta figurine represents a camel driver sitting on a saddled camel. It was found during the excavations of Grenfell and Hunt at Oxyrhynchus. It is part of a collection of figurines, made from two moulds. The piece dates to the end of the second or beginning of the third century AD, and played a symbolical role during festivals in honour of the gods.
