Daniel van Aken
Frans Hals painted the people he associated with, without seeking to flatter and with a uniquely keen eye for individual character. His portraits are very lively and spontaneous. Hals’s great renown also derives from the considerable technical skill he developed in his rendering of faces, skin and textiles.
