shadow puppet
Shadow puppet of Nakula, made of carved and painted leather. Nakula is one of the Pandawa, brothers, the twin of Sahadewa, in the Mahabharata. His hair is in the style known as apit urang, or pinching shrimp. The flesh parts are painted white and he has the delicate facial features, narrow eyes and nose and delicate mouth typical of a refined, or halus, character.
