MEDIEVAL BUCKLE
A medieval copper alloy buckle frame fragment. It is similar to Meols type 10 buckles which date from 1350 - 1400. Only the outer edge survives. It is expanded into a lobe at each end and a central area with a convex outer edge, decorated with incised grooves across the frame. This object was found on Towton Battlefield, so may date from the battle of 1461.
