POST MEDIEVAL MUSKET BALL
A lead alloy musket ball of post-Medieval date, circa 1644. A short section of the casting seam and the remains of the casting sprue are still visible. The ball has a yellowish-grey patina. It is 16.3mm in diameter and weighs 25.51gm. The weight suggests that this would have been used in an arquebus or caliver. (Harding (2012) Lead Shot of the English Civil War: a Radical Study.)
