MEDIEVAL KEY (LOCKING)
A cast copper alloy casket key, of probable Medieval date between 1066-1500. It has a hollow stem, which is flattened on both sides to make it oval in section. The bow is circular with a large worn circular perforation. There is no colar between the bow and the stem. The bit is a simple rectangle with a cleft in the leading edge and opposite it.
