EARLY MEDIEVAL SHIELD
Fragment of an Early Medieval, Anglo-Saxon, iron shield boss. Low, conical body, straight sided and surmounted by an apex button set on a short rod. The absence of the flange makes classification difficult but the side wall had an over-hanging carination.
