IRON AGE VESSEL
Fragment of Late Iron Age grog tempered ware, c. 75 BC – AD 50. This fragment is from the shoulder of the vessel, and though does not show the rim, clearly shows a cordon. The fabric of the ceramic shows black grog temper and a little sand with traces of mica, typical of Essex clays. The surface of the fragment is orangey brown in colour, whilst the core is black. The fragment weighs 23.21g.
