POST MEDIEVAL BUCKLE TONGUE
Post-Medieval cast copper alloy tongue from a two-piece buckle. This is from a shoe or knee buckle. It has an 'IM' maker's stamp and two curved extensions on the end. There is rust from the iron pin at the attachment end. These date from circa1660 and went out of use in circa 1720.cf Whitehead, 2003 'Buckles 1250-1800', page 96 and page 97, no. 599.
