POST MEDIEVAL JETTON
A Post Medieval copper alloy Jetton, dating AD 1500-1551. This is a lion of St Mark type jetton, though it is incredibly worn and thus the inscriptions are illegible. On the obverse is the Lion of St Mark, winged and nimbate, holding the book of gospels. The reverse depicts the Reichsapfel within a voided tressure, annulets either side of each peak.This type of jetton was first produced circa AD. …
