POST MEDIEVAL COIN
Late 17th century gold coin. The coin is a Viraraya Fanam issued by a late Feudatory or successor state of the Vijayanagara Dynasty in the late 17th century. See Mitchiner, M (1998) The Coinage of South India: Vol.2, Hawkins Publishing, Nos. 1243-44 for similar items. A more specific attribution is a Kali Fanam of the late Pandya's.
