EARLY MEDIEVAL RIVET
A sheet copper alloy folded rivet, probably a repair for a copper alloy vessel, of Late Anglo-Saxon to Late Medieval date (AD 1000-1550). The rivet is made from a lozenge-shaped piece of sheet metal which has been folded twice at each end, first inwards towards the centre and then outwards, back on itself, to secure the piece in place.
