BAUDOT, Jean Maurice Émile
Baudot was born on September 11th in 1845 in Magneux, France. He received only primary education and worked at his father’s farm until he joined the French Post & Telegraph Administration in 1869. He served in the Franco-Prussian War and returned to Paris in 1872. He invented and patented a 5-bit code and a printing telegraph in 1874.
