Théophile Roulin was born on May 3, 1884 in Champtocé (Maine-et-Loire). He was incorporated for his military service in the 135th infantry regiment of Angers from October 1905 to September 1906. When war was declared in August 1914, he was called up as a reservist in the 335th Infantry Regiment.
