Jules Durviaux, civic guard from Nivelles, was mobilized with his comrades on August 4, 1914. The civic guard was sent to the rear of the front for tasks of maintaining order. Jules is thus sent to Brussels, to Bruges and then to the coast. Demobilized as a civic guard, he returned to Paris where he worked throughout the war as an accountant.
