Plant pattern (shokubutsu monyō 植物文様): shōbugawa 菖蒲革 ("calamus" leather) and dotted shōchikubai 松竹梅 (pine-bamboo-plum) motifs
Untergrund gefärbt (jizomari 地染). Passermarken (hoshi 星). Ein Dreieck am oberen Schablonenrand. Shōbu 菖蒲 (= Kalmus) kann dem Laut nach auch „militärisch“ oder „kriegerisch“ bedeuten. Daher wurden die Rüstungen, die aus gegerbtem Hirschleder hergestellt waren, oft mit dem shōbu-Motiv verziert.
