Herpes simplex viruses in epithelial cell
Transmission electron micrograph of herpes simplex virus particles in a basal epithelial cell from a virus induced corneal ulcer. Here the virus particles are sequestered into intracytoplasmic vacuoles. Each particle is approximately 150 nanomatres in diameter.
