Ciocul sitarului de mal este foarte lung, aplatizat spre vârf. Narinele sunt laterale, poziționate bazal și ocupă 1/3 din lungimea ciocului, iar lacrimalele sunt sudate cu nasalele. Processus orbitalis oralis este foarte subțire.
