Wine bottle of tin-glazed earthenware, with an inscription, London, dated 1647
Wine bottle. Inscribed WHIT 1647 with a paraph below in blue.
Body colour: Buff.
Condition: Most of handle missing.
Glaze: White with many grey specks. Underside un-glazed.
Shape: Very slightly concave on underside. Handle flat on inside, rounded on exterior with V-shaped lower terminal. (Alphabetic shape codes as used in appendix to Archer. Delftware. 1997)
